Anastasia Steele is about to embark on her future after earning her degree. As fate would have it, she provides a favor to her roommate to interview one of the youngest and wealthiest men in Seattle. Upon their meeting, the chemistry is nearly tangible and with his persuasion, she begins to realize that there is more - much more - than meets the eye.
Before you judge me for watching this, everyone has their opinion one way or another about this story, so it's only fair that I form one of my own. I read the book (just one, because honestly the style of writing is just atrocious, but I admit I wanted to see the movie - and it's always better to read the books first) mainly to see what all the fuss was about. People have been having crazy sex for years, so it is odd to me that this is such a big deal? To each their own, I say. Getting off track... so the movie:
I'm not going to say that this was the greatest film of all time (because it wasn't), nor am I going to bash it for all the reasons it's garnered controversy and say that it was the worst film of all time (because it wasn't that, either). I will say that after reading the book, I thought that the lead characters were cast well. Acting was so-so, but I believe that to be in part because of the material. They cut quite a bit from the book, but honestly the book was too long for the story that is being told.
At the end of the day, it was just a movie. I liked it, didn't love it. I guess you could say my thoughts on the matter are a bit... gray.
"Would Sandra Watch This?" YES
That's a wrap!
